About us
The story
In the flower of tradition
It was 1816 when Duchess Maria Luigia of Austria, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, introduced to Parma the cultivation of her favorite flower: the Violetta (violet). Along the elegant streets of Parma, the Violetta quickly became a symbol, while the gardens of the duchy filled with blossoms of soft mauve flowers that, a century later, would inspire Marcel Proust, charmed by the elegance of the “Petit Paris.” Even today, the Violetta remains a symbol of nobility and elegance, of that refinement which in the nineteenth century brought to Parma the splendor of a European court, with fragrances and flavors reminiscent of France. Today, with Dolce Viola di Parma, we return to its roots to transform the Violetta into a new, authentic and surprising gastronomic experience. Because when history has flavor it becomes emotion.
Origins of the Violet
THE FLOWER OF ELEGANCE
The violetta di Parma, pallida plena, is the most fragrant of the sweet violets: it has large double blossoms in a delicate light mauve hue and a persistent enveloping scent. Its origins, shrouded in the mystery of an ancient hybridization, are lost in time.
Reappearing in the eighteenth century under the Bourbon dynasty, it found its definitive consecration in Parma thanks to Maria Luigia of Austria, who made it a symbol of elegance and distinction.
Even today, we celebrate this historic variety, whose essence is the key to the incomparable quality of Dolce Viola di Parma creations
